I have had upgraded many times since then and still do not feel I am done but I am capable to hear music in its full resolution that can be had from digital media. The power section went burn out TWICE in a year, so I paid for repair and said SO LONG Pioneer. The answer regarding Pioneer(ing) products is simple: I was amongst dissatisfied first owners of their "flagship" VSA - E06 HC amp (EU version). Still, why do you have these 'hard feelings' toward Pioneer, if I may ask? :) Not satisfied with the sound generally, or it's more about technical issues? I thought this should be done automatically - or at least to have it readily available on the remote.

I find it strange though that one has to look for this hidden menu/option in the manual - it's not available in the initial settings menu - in order to be guided to do the stereo/multichannel switch. Now I finally can hear the multichannel sound on my SACDs. Great, the info on page 24 'Switching the CD/SACD playback area' did the trick. Why can't I get multichannel sound when I play SACD with multichannel sound on them?Ĭhange your setting to 'HDMI to AVR' since this refers only to audio. 4-5 year old Pioneer Elite DVD U-Players are going for 200 and up used because most offer dual Wolfson or Burr-Brown chip sets. If you don't own an outboard DAC, it might be pretty weak for audio. Notice that, if I play music from an external HDD connected by USB to the BDP, the files carrying multichannel sound (taken from a SACD) will be displayed correctly: I do get sound in all speakers, and also 'multi in' appears on the AVR display). Not bad for 159 considering it plays everything and even FLAC files.

I tried playing a SACD with the TV turned off - I get the same result, no multichannel.Īll I'm getting is stereo sound, and I know for sure that multichannel sound also exists on those SACD. The Denon 2113 AVR only has the option 'HDMI to AVR' and 'HDMI to TV' - of course I keep the second one on. I've checked to be sure the setting for the 'Audio out' on the BDP is on PCM (not bitstream DSD).Īlso the HDMI setting on the BDP is at 1080p. I tried 3 different SACDs and I have no multichannel sound (and correspondingly, no 'multi in' mention on AVR display).
